Welcome to our Community!
Since 1973, the Shadyside Action Coalition has been a major voice of the residents of Shadyside and an important link to news and information impacting our neighborhood. Originally, the Shadyside Action Coalition was a “coalition” of many local neighborhood groups working to preserve and promote our community. Today, while our goals remain consistent with our predecessors, our volunteer members are people just like you – students, families, working people, singles, couples, professionals, retirees, renters, and homeowners. As an integral part of the City and the growing East End, Shadyside is a vibrant mix of the past and present with a diverse population, historic landmarks, eclectic independent shops, nationally-known retailers, restaurants, and a wide array of housing.
The Shadyside Action Coalition is community based non-profit organization that works with our residents to improve the quality of life for everyone in our neighborhood. Our commitment to the future of Shadyside includes addressing the concerns of our residents: safety, planning and zoning, parking, historical preservation, fund raising, charitable giving, and responsible development. Most importantly, the Shadyside Action Coalition is committed to providing an opportunity for you to get involved in your neighborhood — to become a part of and create a viable sense of community in Shadyside. The future of Shadyside and the Shadyside Action Coalition depends on you. With your help, we can work together so that our neighborhood, Shadyside, is simply a wonderful place to call home.
If you are interested in getting involved with our community or if you have an issue or concern about our neighborhood, then please consider joining us at one of our monthly meetings. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Winchester Thurston School boardroom (entrance on Morewood Ave. at Ellsworth Ave.). For specific meeting dates, please visit our “Get Involved” page. To become a dues-paying member of the Shadyside Action Coalition, please visit our “Store” page ($25 for an individual membership and $50 for a household membership). If you have questions, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (412) 361-3771.
