Welcome to our Community!
On behalf of the Shadyside Action Coalition, I want to welcome you to this great neighborhood. In the truest sense of the word, Shadyside is one of the most livable communities in the city of Pittsburgh. In no other neighborhood in the region does one find a richer convergence of culture, historic landmarks, and a vast array of housing opportunities, eclectic retail, and ethnicity of restaurants. Shadyside also has a truly diverse population, racially, ethnically, and with regards to age demographics. That is, Shadyside is home to students, families, young and old professionals, and to a growing population of retirees. Our community not only embraces diversity and individual expression, but prides itself on its tolerance and enthusiasm for forward-thinking.
Founded in 1973, the Shadyside Action Coalition, a not-for-profit community-based organization, strives to preserve the values and laws of this community. Our commitment to the ideals of the neighborhood has influenced crucial decision-making options that have had profound impact on our neighborhood. Our focal areas of concern include: neighborhood safety, planning and zoning, parking, quality of life, preserving the character of our community, and being actively involved with the future development of our community.
Becoming a member of the Shadyside Action Coalition, involves you in the process of preserving and further developing our neighborhood. At minimum, we ask that you become a member in the dues paying capacity ($20 for an individual membership and $25 for a household membership).
